Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) Evening
The final youth night for the Rotary year was as spectacular as the others Diana Gammon & team have put together this year for the club. Careers Adviser at Hastings College, Mark White hosted the night with students from the three teams from the Port High School Campus who competed with over 70 students at the Rotary District 9650 MUNA at Kempsey NSW last weekend. Students representing Syria – Samet Poerakaldali & Aaron Sherwood; the Maldives – Miriam Wood & Thomas Preen & France – Dorothee Steinbach & James Jackson told of the weekend & led members in a MUNA lively debate on whether to ban coal mining in the state of Queensland due to possible impact to the Great Barrier Reef eco system.
We were also entertained by an amazing talent in Blake O’Connor also from the Port Macquarie High Campus who recently won 4 awards at Tamworth’s Country Music Festival.
Thanks to all the students for a very uplifting presentation.
